What’s up New York, I’m Dale

I'm a therapist and oil painter.

I've hesitated to call myself an artist ever since I was a kid, which is a little surprising considering I spent six hours in an art studio every Saturday growing up... Fortunately, I seem to be overcoming that ;]

My time behind the canvas does for me what the therapy room does for my clients. Painting helps me slow down, make sense of life's transitional periods, and move forward with greater clarity and openness.

While my work explores a range of subjects — from cityscapes to conceptual collections — I continually return to portraiture. Much like therapy, portraiture begins with observation, curiosity, and a desire to understand another person.

Biography

Introduced to painting at the Pontiac Creative Arts Center in Michigan, Dale developed her interest in the human form through figure workshops at Sundance Arts in Utah and studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

A graduate of Michigan State University, Dale studied Psychology while specializing in Fine Arts. She later earned dual master's degrees [MEd and MA] in Psychological Counseling from Columbia University.

After building a career in mental health, Dale is now bringing her artistic practice into the public eye, sharing collections that quietly developed across different chapters of her life while continuing to build new ones.

Clinical Work & Giving Back

Dale primarily works with individuals living with Bipolar Disorder, struggling with Substance Use Disorders, and at elevated suicide risk. She is also passionate about supporting women recovering from abusive relationships.

10% of each original painting sale will be donated to either suicide prevention research or support services for survivors of domestic abuse, as selected by the collector.
