What’s up New York, I’m Dale

I’m a therapist and I paint occasionally…I average about one painting a year… but hey, I guess that means my pieces are pretty exclusive.

My clinical work is grounded in the belief that we feel most at peace when we develop a strong sense of autonomy - and when we use that autonomy to move through life in alignment with our true values and honest goals. When we thoughtfully and intentionally externalize the narratives that surround our experiences we are able to strengthen trust in ourselves and ensure authorship over our lives.

There is a parallel between what my therapeutic space does for others and what my time behind a canvas does for me. For me, creative self expression is an act of savoring a moment or a space to reorganize overwhelming scenarios. In either case, my pieces become a holding place for my private thoughts and emotions, allowing me to refocus from the past onto welcoming whatever comes next.

Because of how personal each piece is to me, I’ve historically kept my works fairly private. That said, I’ve also known eventually I’d find the right time to do something more with my creative interests. For various reasons, I’ve come to think that time is now.

I’m excited to make my private portfolio public, let’s see what happens =]
